Kodiak acquires Direct Lumber and Door of Colorado
Kodiak Building Partners has acquired Direct Lumber and Door of Denver. Direct Lumber and Door serves contractors and remodelers by offering lumber, trusses, millwork, and hardware. They will soon add a panel plant to the mix. Direct Lumber and Door was founded in 2000 by Russ Brown, as Multi-Family Building Products. Tom Kostelecky joined the company in 2012, and the name was changed to Direct Lumber and Door in that same year.
Brown will has announced his retirement, and Kostelecky will continue to lead Direct Lumber and Door as its President and be a part of the Kodiak LBM leadership team. Additionally, Kostelecky will join the ownership ranks of Kodiak, as many past sellers to Kodiak have done.
According to Kostelecky, “Kodiak’s culture and operating model fit so well with who we are at Direct Lumber and Door. Because service has been the priority that has set us apart from our competitors, we give the credit to our family of employees. Kodiak puts employees first, and that will allow us to continue to successfully serve our market. I’m thrilled to be joining the Kodiak team and continuing as an owner and investor, as we continue to grow and serve the needs of builders in Colorado and across the country.”
“The 190 employees at Direct Lumber and Door are a motivated and diligent crew that will be a great addition to our 2,023 employees, and the company will complement our other Denver-area companies and our entire corporation,” said Steve Swinney, Kodiak’s CEO.
